TCM and S5000 announce 2023 calendars

Wednesday 07 December, 2022
S5000 and TCM have confirmed their 2023 calendars.
The 2023 calendars for both the S5000 Australian Drivers' Championship and Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters (TCM) have been released with a bumper schedule to make up each season.

Popular amongst race fans, both categories will feature prominently at major events next year as support categories in the Repco Supercars Championship, as well as being featured in the newly confirmed SpeedSeries calendar.

In 2023, competitors in the S5000 Australian Drivers' Championship season will battle it out for the Motorsport Australia Gold Star across seven rounds, while the Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters will run over six rounds.

Both categories will get their seasons started off early as part of the Race Tasmania in February, before TCM heads to Newcastle for the opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship.

While S5000 will hold its second round at a yet to be confirmed round in Victoria, they will both be part of the recently announced SpeedSeries round at Winton Motor Raceway.

The S5000s hold its fourth round at the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight at the end of July, before heading to South Australia for the OTR The Bend Supersprint, where it shares the Supercars support card with the Touring Cars Maters.

The Touring Car Masters will then form part of second annual Supercheap Auto Bathurst International at Mount Panorama for its penultimate round and will finish the year off in Adelaide.

For the S5000s, the second last round is yet to be confirmed, however it will again join TCM on the Supercars support card as part of the VALO Adelaide 500.

The final two rounds of the S5000 championship will also make up the 2023 Tasman Series.

Australian Racing Group Chief Operating Officer Liam Curkpatrick was pleased to be able to confirm.

"The 2023 S5000 calendar was about finding a balance between supporting our own SpeedSeries events while also delivering rounds at key Supercars Championship events as well,” Curkpatrick said.

"The 2023 calendar is a strong mixture of both with great events, circuits perfect for the S5000s to showcase their full potential and deliver the broadcast and attendance requirements for our competitors.

"S5000 will very much be a headline act at SpeedSeries rounds, including the brand-new event at Winton in June, while our championship debut at The Bend, a circuit almost as if it was designed for these cars, will be exciting.

"The momentum S5000 has built at the end of this season, capped off by an incredible showing at the VALO Adelaide 500, means everyone is excited about continuing that growth into the 2023 season."

The location of the Victorian SpeedSeries round and the Tasman Series opener will be announced in the coming months.
