When hosting an event as either a promoter or club, does Motorsport Australia cover the entire event including all the suppliers?
The following information is general in nature. Please contact the MGA Motorsport Team to discuss any specific coverage queries.
The Motorsport Australia insurance program is primarily designed to provide cover for Motorsport Australia-sanctioned events.
While this protection may extend to certain non-motorsport activities conducted as part of an event, it is not intended to serve as a general event insurance policy.
Importantly, the cover applies only to the affiliated club or event promoter.
In addition to the permitted Motorsport event, additional activities for which the affiliated club or event promoter are covered for includes food and beverage services (including food trucks), parking operations, and the sale of merchandise, fuel and other event-related supplies.
It is important to note that the policy does not extend to suppliers.
Event organisers must therefore obtain and retain a current public liability Certificate of Currency from every supplier attending their motorsport event.
Unless specifically approved and noted on your event permit, activities that are not directly connected to the motorsport event are not covered.
This includes concerts, DJ performances, amusement rides, attractions, jumping castles, and any sporting event or demonstration that does not fall under Motorsport Australia’s Sporting Regulations.
Promoters should also ensure they have their own event public liability insurance in place to cover all commercial activations that take place at the event. In addition, any volunteers engaged directly by the promoter – other than registered Motorsport Australia officials – are not covered by Motorsport Australia’s personal accident insurance.
Please note that the advice provided above is general and does not take into account your specific circumstances. For further information, please review the Motorsport Australia insurance handbook, or contact MGA Insurance Brokers on 1300 642 000.

An Enthusiast Club can run social drives and other social activities with the same extensive public and personal liability insurance coverage, at no extra cost.
