Jake Swinglehurst continues to lead the way in the BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) in the lead up to the season finale at the Black Diamond Drilling Kalgoorlie Desert Race.

Despite a third-place finish at a shortened Rainbow, championship contender Ryan Taylor was unable to significantly close the gap to Swinglehurst due to the shortened weekend, and now sits eight and a half points back from the championship lead.

Brent Smoothy’s fourth consecutive top 10 finish has kept him touching distance of the outright leaders and two points ahead of rival Brett Comiskey, setting up an exciting championship showdown with only a single round remaining.

Despite losing third position overall, Comiskey still leads the Extreme 2WD class over Smoothy with a 233-point advantage.

Moving his way up the standings after a standout weekend was Greg Gartner, while facing a couple of issues across the Saturday he was able to storm his Extreme 2WD to the outright lead, almost doubling his overall points tally to move up into 16th position.

His son, Ben Gartner was also able to notch his first points of the season after an 18th place finish in Rainbow on Saturday.

Another big mover after the weekend was second place finisher Shane Elphinstone, using his big chunk of points to sit in touching distance of the top 10, while SXS pro driver Glenn Brinkman dropped a few places.

After taking out top honours in the Kincrome SXS Motorsport Australia Championship, Lachlan Bailey holds sixth position in his class while Glen Ackroyd still leads the class over James Cook by 126.5 points and will look to take home the title come Kalgoorlie.

John Wisse remains in control of the SXS Sport class despite title challenger Eden Evens claiming maximum point in Rainbow, while Samuel Crammond sits in a distant third.
