Tasmania has hosted a double header of Ricciardo’s Racers this month with events at Symmons Plains and Baskerville Raceway.

With four sessions running across the weekend, around 44 young Australians aged between 12-17 taking part in the events, 17 at Baskerville and a further 27 at Symmons Plains.

Under the guidance of experienced driving instructors in Andre Heimgartner, Lachlan Dalton and Brodie Maher, the sessions helped the participants build confidence and technical skills behind the wheel.

Each session took participants through a range of skills, including braking and manoeuvring through a slalom course before participants were able to contest a mini-motorkhana competition using the Motorsport Australia Ford Mustang.

The four sessions then concluded with the main highlight of the event - one-on-one drives in the Mustang with Heimgartner or Dalton, both of whom are experienced campaigners in a race car.

Ricciardo’s Racers is a fun and engaging development program, teaching participants how to drive for motorsport in a safe environment and enabling them to gain the required skills needed to eventually enter club events.

The next event will be at Sydney Motorsport Park on 18 July, while registrations for Queensland’s back-to-back editions on 7-8 August are now open.
