The Motorsport Australia New South Wales Motor Race Championships will get underway later this month with Wakefield Park to host the first round of the season.

While most of the championships’ usual categories will be on show throughout the race meeting, event organisers has created a brand new category as a way to give new licence holders a pathway to motorsport.

The Wakefield Park All Invited will take place across the weekend of 27–28th February, including the Friday 26th, and will give new drivers the chance to gain some valuable experience to compete at bigger events.

The schedule will see participants complete their Observed License Test (OLT) on the Friday, before enjoying qualifying and three races on the Saturday.

With a big year of motorsport across all levels in 2021, the Wakefield Park All Invited class is the perfect opportunity for aspiring drivers to build their confidence and skill set, enhance their knowledge for the sport, and set themselves up to compete at events at Wakefield and anywhere in Australia.

Operations Manager Dean Chapman believed the category would go a long way in helping with the development of rookie drivers.

“This category is a very important step in increasing the amount of drivers getting their Motorsport Australia licence and enjoying what Motorsport Australia events have to offer,” Chapman said.

“We want people to race at Motorsport Australia events and this is the perfect chance for drivers who haven’t been able to compete at these events to do what they need to do – all in the weekend and at the same location.

“It doesn’t matter what type of car they have, their engine build, who their club is or what level of experience is – at the end of the day, as long as you have a Motorsport Australia log book, you can come along.

“We really want to see more people competing at Motorsport Australia events in New South Wales and I feel that an opportunity like this is beneficial to everyone as it makes it easier for people to get involved.

"It’s also perfect for people wanting to get their race meeting experience up to ensure they can compete at Bathurst."

Other categories to be taking place at the race meeting will be Formula Vee, Superkarts, HQ Holdens, Improved Productions, Formula Cars and the RX8 Cup.

The 2021 Motorsport Australia New South Wales Motor Race Championships season opener takes place at Wakefield Park on 27-28 February.
