From 1 January 2021,

Motorsport Australia will reduce the number of Officials’ Licences from 78 to 40 by removing subcategory licences for which there is no aligned training. This will dramatically reduce the burden on Official’s maintenance requirements and create a simpler and clearer pathway for our volunteer Officials.

Below are some examples of the new licence structure and how it will look for your Silver or above grade licence upon renewal:

  • If you currently hold a Silver Rally - Course Vehicle and Stage Commander licence, upon renewal, you will be issued with a “Silver Rally” licence.
  • If you currently hold a Silver Circuit - Comms and Gold Circuit – Flags, upon renewal, you will be issued with a “Gold Circuit” licence as that is the highest level of licence that you have attained within the Circuit category.
  • If you currently hold a Silver Off Road - Course Vehicle and CRO licence, upon renewal, you will be issued with a “Silver Off Road” licence.

The tables below show the new licence structure, roles within a licence category, maintenance conditions and the advancement pathway.

Officials Licence Structure
Club Chief Licence

The Club Chief endorsement has been removed as part of the simplified licence structure.

There is no change to the authority of a club or multi-club Clerk of the Course that previously held a Club Chief endorsement as per NCR 71.

Officials that hold a Club Chief endorsement will be issued with a Bronze Event Command upon renewal.
