S5000 Tasman Adelaide field set
Thursday 24 November, 2022
The S5000 Tasman Series will have a field of 15 in its Adelaide 500 showdown.
The field for the final round of the S5000 Tasman Series has been set with an entry list of 15 to battle it out on the streets of Adelaide as part of the VALO Adelaide 500.
Taking place as part of a bumper support card to the Repco Supercars Championship season finale, there will be plenty of familiar names to the category, as well as high-profile returnees.
Headlining the entry list is former Formula 1 star Giancarlo Fisichella and two-time Gold Star champion Tim Macrow, who will be hoping to end his career on a high.
Fisichella on the other hand will be getting his first taste of the car since the shortened 2022 Australian Grand Prix.
Other high-profile drivers include Tasman Series leader Nathan Herne and current Gold Star Champion Joey Mawson as some of the favourites for the event.
Defending Tasman Series champion Aaron Cameron will also be one to watch as he makes his first appearance for the season after missing the Gold Coast round.
There will be lots of local talent looking to pick up some good results with Sebastien Amadio, Blake Purdie, Mark Rosser and S5000 debutant Brad Gartner all ready for a big weekend.
With an impressive entry list to make up the field, S5000 Category Manager Ben McMellan was looking forward to a big end to the 2022 season.
"We're excited by the field assembled for Adelaide both in quality and quantity. It's our second largest grid of the year - behind only the Grand Prix - and the best for a Tasman Series round,” McMellan said.
"It's stacked with talent and after the highly competitive and very clean show we enjoyed on the Gold Coast, we expect this to be an even better show for the Adelaide fans, many of whom were there for the Formula 1 era.
"We're very comfortable with the changes to the cars. They are proving to be very adaptable to different conditions and if this is what it takes to be able to put on a great show at as many circuits as possible, then we will embrace it.
"The team at GRM and InnoV8 have done a great job in making it seamless for all our teams.
"When our 15-strong field is Thundering into the Senna Chicane for our first race on Friday, no one will notice the difference."
S5000 Tasman Series competitors tackle three races across the VALO Adelaide 500 weekend on 2-4 December.
