The Phillip Island Auto Racing Club has announced the details for its annual Island Magic, with a host of popular categories to feature in the three-day race meeting.

Scheduled for the end of November at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the event will welcome both a mix of regular categories and new additions for fans to enjoy.

One of the biggest additions to the popular Island Magic is the national-level Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia Series, which will have its season finale as part of the Victorian event.

A regular fixture on the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships calendar, the one-make Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship feeder series has an intriguing title fight occurring that is likely to go down to the final race at the Island Magic.

Another major drawcard to the event is the inclusion of Formula Open Victoria, which will join the card for the first time in 20 years and will see competitors fighting for the John Roxborough Trophy.

Also featuring at the popular event are a host of regular categories with high-stakes feature races, including the Sports Sedans’ 50k Plate, the Improved Production’s Matthew Flinders Trophy and the Historic Touring Cars, which will compete for the Victorian Historic Touring Car Trophy and the Alan McKelvie Memorial Trophy.

Other highly anticipated categories include the ever-popular Hyundai Excel Series, who have an enduro and two sprint races, the Endeavour Cup Porsche 944 Challenge and the open wheelers of Formula Vee, Formula Ford and Formula Ford 1600.

With PIARC celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2022, Club President Nick Scarcella was excited to cap the year off with an important event like Island Magic.

“Island Magic is a highlight on the calendar for competitors, officials, and spectators alike,” Scarcella said,

“Over the years at this event, we have had many of the superstars of today launch their careers, be it in Formula Ford, Formula Vee, or the great battles in Improved Production and Sports Sedans, plus this year we will enjoy the next generation of Porsche future stars with the final round for the Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia.

“In PIARC’s 70th Anniversary year of celebrations, we look forward to seeing full fields and good crowds descend on the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit to see magic at its best.”
