Price and Weel begin their US tour

Monday 15 August, 2022
Toby Price and Paul Weel are representing Australia in off road racing in the US.

Vegas to Reno

Toby Price and Paul Weel’s off road tour of the United States has started in heartbreak, after the duo failed to finish the famous Vegas to Reno due to multiple issues.

With three events making up their tour, the duo had high hopes of a strong start to their program, representing Team Australia in the popular race.

Price was the first to get behind the wheel of the Quad Lock backed 2WD Geiser Brothers Trophy Truck for qualifying, doing a superb job to steer the truck to fourth outright and first in class.

Unfortunately, that’s as good as it got for the team. Electrical issues after qualifying prevented Price from getting to the start line in time and forcing them down the order.

Despite the setback, the two-time four-wheel Tatts Finke Desert Race winner was able to get back on track with good pace before a broken rear axle halfway through their run resulted in a DNF.

It was a tough start to the US, with Weel unable to get any seat time during the event.

The duo remain in high spirits following their DNF, and will look toward the second event of their program next month, the iconic Baja 400.

British Formula 4

Noah Lisle has missed out on scoring points in the British Formula 4 Championship after a tough round at Snetterton Circuit.

The West Australian has enjoyed a solid start to his first international championship event so far, but was unable to find any success as he missed out on the points by one position in two of the three races.

Having qualified in P12 in both sessions, Lisle managed to make up a position in the weekend’s first race to finish 11 but dropped to 13th in the round’s reverse grid race.

In a similar outcome to the opening race, Lisle finished one place higher in the final race of the weekend but again reached the chequered flag in 11th – only this time, he was just two tenths of securing a top 10 finish.

While he missed out on points, the youngster’s final race saw him pick up a podium in the rookie cup.

The next round of the championship will be at Thruxton Circuit on 27-28 August.
