Following the successful launch of Motorsport Australia’s Women’s Officiating Pathway Program in Queensland, Western Australia will now have a similar program of its own.

Supported by the WA Government, the program will help provide opportunities to female club officials in WA to progress from club level officiating into the running of state level and higher events.

Like the Queensland based program, 10 selected mentees will be matched up with a suitable mentor with whom they will create an action plan with and work alongside at events throughout the year in order to meet that plan.

The program is now accepting applications and is open to women, non-binary and gender diverse people who hold a current General Official or Bronze Officials licence.

Interested participants have until 7 July to submit their application and all successful applicants will be informed by 15 July.

The program will then begin with a Zoom meeting on 19 July, which will be hosted by Supercars content contributor Charlie Bullis and will feature Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series Deputy Race Directory Dani Meyn, WA State Council Chair Wendy Walker and WA Sporting Car Club Marketing & Partnership Executive Lauren Cornes as panellists.

The Zoom session will introduce the 10 participants to the overall program and to the other mentees with whom they will share their goals for the program, as well take part in a Q&A with the three leading female senior officials.

Following on from the Zoom, mentees will then have their initial one-on-one mentor meetings and will create a plan of events they will participate in where they will develop their officiating skills and increase their knowledge.

Once the program has concluded, it is hoped that the participants will have increased their networking and learning opportunities and gained a larger skillset to help them fulfil a senior officiating role at state level events or upgrade their licence to Silver/Gold/Specialist status.
