Digital Challenge to find next star

Wednesday 27 April, 2022
The FIA Rally Star program returns in May.

The Australian edition of the FIA Rally Star Digital Challenge will officially take place next month with the program targeted at unearthing talented, aspiring rally drivers.

A global search for individuals aged between 17 and 26, Motorsport Australia will be hosting the in-person Challenge for Australia with a potential opportunity to one day compete in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Taking place at Motorsport Australia House, the qualifying day will see 28 individuals get 15 minutes on the simulator to post a time on a virtual rally stage. The top four participants will then qualify for the Asia-Pacific Finals, which will take place later this year.

There are multiple spots still available and interested participants can register their place here.

Following the Asia-Pacific Finals, the winner will then be selected to join the FIA Rally Star team, while seven drivers selected for the Continental Finals will also get the chance to receive driver coaching, physical and mental training, testing sessions and participation in six rallies behind the wheel of a M-Sport Fiesta Rally3.

The program is open to all Australian citizens, however they must not have previously competed in a round of the FIA World Rally Championship, finished in the outright top 20 of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship, finished in the top 10 of the RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship or in the top 5 of a well-established single-make cup or trophy.

Interested participants must also not be aligned or supported by a manufacturer or importer.
