Motorsport Australia has released an updated version of the Wet Tyre Definition for the purpose of Tarmac (Targa) Rally events.

This update follows an initial definition released earlier this year, in conjunction with a recommendation from the Targa Tasmania Investigatory Tribunal. This update takes into consideration feedback received from tyre manufacturers and tyre representative bodies in the short term whilst consultation continues on the definition for the future.

With the 30th edition of TARGA Tasmania less than a month away, the current update will be the final amendment to the definition before the popular tarmac rally goes ahead.

The 2022 TARGA Tasmania takes place around Tasmania on 26 April – 1 May and serves as the season finale to the Motorsport Australia TARGA Championship.

Note: This definition is subject to change by Motorsport Australia. The definition remains under review with further consultation with Tyre Manufacturers and Tyre Manufacturer representative bodies such as the Australian Tyre Industry Council, as requested by Tyre Manufacturer representatives in Australia.
