Those with an interest in motorsport are being given new insights into how to become an official thanks to Phillip Island Auto Racing Club (PIARC)’s latest initiative.

Taking place on Sunday 23 January in Springvale, the 90-minute session will look at the various roles available for new Motorsport Australia officials and how to get started.

There is plenty of exciting aspects to the role of an official, including the ability to progress through the ranks and get support from Motorsport Australia to take on senior roles at various events. Of course, officials also enjoy some of the best seats in the house at motorsport events and their time and effort is integral to the successful running of events across the country.

PIARC itself has a long history with developing officials, with the great late Peter Nelson, a foundation member and long serving President of PIARC, having played a key role in developing initial training programs that Motorsport Australia used as foundations for its current officials' training.

So successful have the Victorian club’s training programs been over the years, many of the officials to come through the PIARC system have ended up in senior positions within Motorsport Australia or received international recognition through the FIA.

Since its formation in 1952, the club has been committed to recruiting and training motorsport officials from all backgrounds with individuals as young as 14 able to join as an official.

There are limited seats available at the information session and interested participants are encouraged to get in early, so they don’t miss out on the exciting opportunity.
