A number of Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships events are now locked in for 2022, with a mix of Australia’s best categories to join each event.

The full Shannons calendar will be released in coming weeks, with several more events still to be added to next year’s bill.

Exact category line ups are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks as each category finalises their respective schedule.

Today’s part calendar announcement follows the confirmation of a Phillip Island double header as part of the planning for 2022.

The schedule so far includes the two visits to Phillip Island, as well as a welcome return to Queensland Raceway.

The Bathurst 6 Hour will once again feature as part of the Shannons schedule, while a second event will take place in NSW in May.

Sandown again features in September, with a large crowd expected to attend the Melbourne circuit.

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith said the 2022 calendar was an exciting prospect after two years of disruptions.

“We’re thrilled to be announcing a taste of our 2022 calendar, which includes visits to the best circuits in Australia,” Smith said.

“More events will be locked in shortly, as we work with governments and circuits around the country to confirm our full schedule.

“The Australian Racing Group categories are expected to be part of the majority of our events, which will deliver fans and competitors with an exceptional opportunity to see the best drivers in Australia go head to head.

“Of course, the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships will remain home to a number of other popular categories, including the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, which has been an integral part of our events. We also look forward to again welcoming the Precision National Sports Sedan Series, Radical Australia, GC Marine Australian Prototype Series and the MRF Tyres Australian Production Car Series to name just a few of our regular categories.

“Understandably the past two years have been very difficult for so many people involved in these events, so to all our categories, circuits, competitors, officials and fans, we look forward to a big 2022. To Shannons, our naming rights partner, we also thank you for your ongoing support of this popular and loved series of national motorsport events.”
