The Vintage Sports Car Club Of WA will once again hit the rural town of Northam this weekend for the annual the Northam Flying 50 & Lindsay Monk Hill-Climb festival.

Cars, bikes and monster trucks will be on show through a variety of different events as the event takes over the whole town across the weekend, including the signature drawcard – Sunday’s Flying 50.

More than 120 cars over four different categories will speed around the town’s streets, putting a show on for the locals and fans who make their way from surrounding regions.

From classical and vintage favourites to the modern day speedsters, there will be cars for all ages that fans can enjoy.

Before the main event gets underway though, a jam-packed program will whet the appetite for spectators on Saturday starting with a 30-car hill climb in the morning.

Following the hill climb, the exciting monster trucks will be on display in the afternoon before the popular night market and festival adds more entertainment to what is already a fan favourite.

As a result of being cancelled last year, it’s been two years since the event last took place and event manager David Moir was excited for it to finally return.

“I am pretty excited for it. I haven't been involved too much too much in the past so this is the first time I have been organising it - it’s a big learning curve,” Moir said.

“It’s quite a big festival and for the first time ever, some of the monster trucks will actually be taking part in the Flying 50 on Sunday, as well as actually carrying passengers too.

“These events are really popular to be honest. I am expecting around three to four thousand people to be watching as the state Government has eased the restrictions even further.

“A big thank you must go out to the shire itself because they have done so much work in putting it together and they are very supportive, and we can’t way for the weekend.”

The Vintage Sports Car Club Of WA’s Northam Flying 50 & Lindsay Monk Hill-Climb festival takes place in Northam on 10-11 April.
