The Motorsport Australia South Australian Hill Climb Championship takes place this weekend with 91 competitors from around the state to do battle at the iconic Collingrove Hillclimb.

In what will be a jam-packed schedule, the participating competitors will have between 10 and 12 runs over Saturday and Sunday as they look to claim class honours and make the prestigious top 12 Shootout.

Headlining the huge entry list will be national star David Mahon and the Dallara Hayabusa pilot will be looking to add to his 2017 title, while his biggest challengers will be from the likes of other title contenders in Allan and Derek Foster.

The Fosters aren’t the only family to field a multiple drivers this weekend with a quite a few competitors sharing the same surname, most notably the three cars belonging to the Pfeiffers.

Since COVID-19 restrictions were eased across the state, it’s been an extremely busy few months for the family, with Sarah, David and their son Harry getting as much as seat time as they can across a number of different club and state level events.

However the state hill climb championships are always the highlight of the year for the trio and with Collingrove once again hosting the premier hill climb in South Australia, Sarah believes this year’s event will be more special than usual.

“I am so thankful that we are able to race this weekend,” Sarah said.

“It’s a bit sad that Victorians can’t compete this weekend because we do like the competition, but having no the interstaters come through this year makes it a true South Australian Championship and it will be very interesting.

“With that said, it’s been a very congested lead up for the family and the problem with so many race meetings in such a short space is that it’s a bit of struggle to get the car ready in time. But we’re ready and we're excited to compete this weekend.

“The weather isn’t looking so great so I am also a little nervous because weather can really dictate how you go at Collingrove.

“I don’t give myself much of a chance for outright honours, but usually I aim to be in the top 20 and the fastest female if I can. I currently hold the current record for my class, but I expect that to be broken.

“Last year I was the first female to ever make the Top 12 Shootout so I am hoping to replicate that this weekend.”

A special private practice will take place on Friday before the official runs take place on Saturday and on Sunday morning. Wrapping up the event on Sunday afternoon will be the prestigious Top 12 Shootout.
