The South Eastern Automobile Club is the first club in South Australia to run an event this weekend.
For the second consecutive week, three grassroots events will run in Australia with Western Australia once again leading the way with two events, including the popular Infinite Time Attack.

South Australia will hold its first club event this weekend with South Eastern Automobile Club running a test and tune day.

Infinite Time Attack

Wanneroo Raceway
4 June
Barbagallo/Wanneroo Raceway

The popular Infinite Time Attack series returns in Western Australia tonight with 38 competitors confirmed to take part in the supersprint event.

Competitors will be split into a number of groups and have an hour of track time to post their fastest times before another handful of competitors get their chance.

Event organiser David Walker believed everyone was looking forward to finally getting a chance to compete again.

“Everyone is really looking forward to the event and we’re really excited to be able to compete again,” Walker said.

“We did what we could to abide by the Return to Race Strategy and everything seems to be okay, so we’re ready to go ahead.”

BORMSA Khanacross

Beverley Offroad Motorsport Association
6-7 June
Nicholson Street, Beverly - WA

The Beverley Offroad Motorsport Association will welcome back more than 30 of its members to competition mode with entrants to complete 10 tests at the khanacross.

Set across two days on a property of 120 acres, the event will see 24 entrants complete their tests on Saturday before 13 run on Sunday in order to stay within the restrictions put in place by the Government and Motorsport Australia.

Event organiser Neal Johnson was proud to see members rally behind the club in order to get the green light and return to some normality.

“When we opened up the entries, we had 19 people apply within 24 hours which is a lot,” Johnson said.

“Normally it would take a week, which just highlights the enthusiasm of our club members and how much they want to get out there.

“BORMA is very club orientated. We’re really excited and getting a lot of queries about the event. Once we knew we could potentially run again, we found out what we needed to do to fit under the restrictions and we went for it.

“Everyone has been emailed the supp regs, drivers’ briefing and self-scrutineering forms, so we don’t have to do anything in person and we have planned for 20 officials across the weekend.

“Now that the West Australian government has loosened up the law a little bit, we are hoping to get back to our normal calendar.”

Practice day test and tune

South Eastern Automobile Club
7-8 June
SEAC Park – SA

The first club in South Australia will hold an event this weekend with the South Eastern Automobile Club to dip its toe in the water and run a practice test and tune day at their own circuit.

Between 30 and 40 club members are expected to take part in the event, which is aimed at giving members the opportunity to get some mileage into their cars before official competition gets underway in the coming weeks.

In order to keep within the Motorsport Australia Return to Race guidelines, the club will have group sessions made up of five cars and each group will get two hours of track time before having a 30-minute layover between the next group.

SEAC President Paul Heenan was thrilled the club was able to find a way to put an event on for its members.

“We are very thrilled to run the event. The priority is for our members to have some track time at this particular event,” Heenan said.

“It is a good way for all competitors to have a run, whether they’re in autocross, rallycross, motorkhana or just casual drivers. It will give them an opportunity to get track time ahead of our two or three calendared events over the next couple of months.

“We initially put a proposal forward to Motorsport Australia, in what we thought would get us through the COVID-19 guidelines and I think what we’ve have done it and the way we have it will work quite well.

“Curtis Boyd, who has been organising it has done a tremendous job.

“We have done whatever we can to adhere to the guidelines. I think we’re all looking forward to being able to get out there and have a spin.”
