The Phillip Island Classic ‘Festival of Motorsport’ has come to close for another year after the hugely successful event once again took place at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Hosted by the Victorian Historic Racing Register, it was an event for the passionate old-school motorsport fan, with more than 500 classic cars from around the world forming part of the 31st edition of the festival.

It was two-days of non-stop action as nine categories ran up to five races, some of which had fields of more than 50 cars, giving both the fans and drivers plenty of entertainment throughout the weekend.

From Historic Touring Cars, 5 Litre Touring Cars and a host of group touring cars to F5000, Formula Ford and Indy Cars, there were a huge mix of racing for fans of every age to enjoy.

While a majority of the categories were made up of state and club local drivers, there were a few big names within with former Australian Touring Car stars John Bowe, Greg Murphy and Thomas Tweedie all putting on a show running in different categories.

Some other notables included the nine females racing, further highlighting the importance of Sunday’s International Women’s Day.

Outside of the racing, there were also a number of demonstrations and passenger rides taking place with Virgin Australia Supercars Championship regular David Reynolds running some laps, as lucky fans got an opportunity of a lifetime to drive with one of the country’s best.
