The Racing Together program has been making waves overseas, with seven-time FIA  Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton voicing his support for the team of teenage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and boys.

Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, Hamilton took time out of his preparation to pen a message to the team after reading about their story in a publication.

The message, which read “To Racing Together, I am inspired to see you all coming together and the work you are putting in. Keep pushing, keep chasing your dreams. So proud of you. Best wishes, Lewis Hamilton 44”, would then act as an inspiration during the team’s charge at the Warwick 1000.

While driver Braedyn Cidoni was unable to secure a point across the Circuit Excels, the Racing Together Excel still managed to finish every race.

Out of a jam-packed field of 40 cars, Cidoni steered the car to a respectable 22nd in race one and 24th in race two, before consecutive 21sts in the final two races.

Unfortunately, the car was involved in a collision during the weekend’s second race, however Cidoni managed to reach the chequered flag, before the team were able to successfully fix the significant front-end damage ahead of the third outing.

“A lot of things could have gone better, but we still finished all the races and got our best results yet,” Cidoni said.

“The racing community has been pretty positive about Racing Together and we’re getting great feedback.”

Following the meeting, the 10 team members will now spend the next few weeks in the Norwell Motorplex workshop preparing their car for November's next race meeting.

They have also begun the build on a second car, likely to debut at the Motorsport Australia Queensland Circuit Championships early next year.

The Racing Together program will begin the search for its 2022 team at Norwell Motorplex on 7-14 November, with further details to be released in the coming weeks.
