CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST:
PROMOTER OF MOTORSPORT AUSTRALIA SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Motorsport Australia is now calling for expressions of interest to identify a candidate interested in acting as the official and exclusive agent of Motorsport Australia for the commercial organisation and promotion of the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship, with a view to concluding a multi-year agreement.

The Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship will consolidate various open and prototype sports car categories into the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship.

Note that rights to the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship will incorporate LMP3, Prototype and Radical specification vehicles whilst retaining options for extended Category Rights Agreements for any of the individual aforementioned categories.

Motorsport Australia is recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the governing body of motor sport in Australia and as the sole authority having the sporting power with the right to organise officially sanctioned National Championships and Series events.

The selection process is open to all candidates capable of conducting such a role for the non- sporting organisation and the promotion of Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship. Motorsport Australia will provide the sporting organisation. The Promoter will be entitled to exploit all commercial rights for the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship and shall be the Commercial Rights Holder.

Interested candidates are invited to register a formal expression of interest with Motorsport Australia by 5pm AEST, Thursday 30 September, 2021.

 
Stage 1:

Interested parties may submit their expression of interest in the form of a letter, outlining:

• The candidate’s experience in the organisation and the promotion of events, including media production and distribution, sponsorship sales and servicing, stakeholder management, etc.;
• The type/ category of vehicles that the candidate is proposing to form part of the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship.
• The candidate’s experience in the organisation and the promotion of events, including media production and distribution, sponsorship sales and servicing, stakeholder management, etc.;

A proposal should also be provided to address the following areas:

Operations:

• Key operational personnel/partners
• Technical capacity and resources
• Note – Motorsport Australia will liaise with the Promoter in relation to venues, dates and structure of events

Commercial:

• Existing and potential corporate partners (sponsors)
• Potential of ancillary revenues (i.e. ticketing, sponsorship, merchandise)
• Ability to liaise and work with major vehicle manufacturers involved in the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship.

Financial:

• Provision of sufficient funding to conduct the organisation and promotion of the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship.
• Assessment of the investment required and return on investment opportunities for stakeholders including teams running the cars
• The level of contribution offered to Motorsport Australia to conduct the sporting organisation and in return for the commercial rights

Media / Marketing:

• Media management strategy
• Identification of media partners
• Broadcasting plan/opportunities
• New media activation
• Other fan engagement opportunities

Broader implications:

• Impact on/relevance with Motorsport Australia elite driver development initiatives
• Potential impacts on grassroots motor sport
• Any other details considered as relevant for the assessment of such proposal


Stage 2:

Motorsport Australia will contact the entities that have sent a formal expression of interest within the deadline stated in Stage 1, and a discussion phase will start with the candidates whose expression of interest meets the requirements stated in this document.

The discussion phase will conclude on Friday 15 October, 2021.

According to the results of the various exchanges and discussions with the candidates, Motorsport Australia shall select the candidate which, in Motorsport Australia’s sole opinion, best serves the interests of the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship and the interests of motor sport in general.

Motorsport Australia will not be required to give reasons for the acceptance or refusal of any particular proposal.

The selected candidate shall be informed of its selection by Friday 22 October, 2021 and will be required to sign a Commercial Rights Agreement with Motorsport Australia.


Miscellaneous:

Motorsport Australia reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to interrupt or make changes to this selection process at any time.

Nothing in this selection process or any communication made by Motorsport Australia or its representatives or employees shall constitute a contract between Motorsport Australia and any prospective candidate. Motorsport Australia shall be under no obligation to accept any expression of interest submitted. Furthermore, if, at the sole discretion of Motorsport Australia, Motorsport Australia considers that no candidate meets with the Motorsport Australia’s criteria for the appointment as promoter of the Motorsport Australia Sportscar Championship, Motorsport Australia may, inter alia, elect not to appoint any of the candidates.
